Just yesterday when I was watching Oprah eating Bon-bons (okay there were no bon-bons!), I watched a woman win $25,000. I was totally phsyched for her because it had DEEP meaning watch it over on Oprah, that’s a whole other story. I was more jealous of all the audience members who went home with $5o0!! Each and every one. Yes, I’ve tried to get Oprah tickets before and never could, so not only do I not get to see her in person, I’ve got ZERO chance of any goodies, until now.
I missed todays episode but luckily I follow several blogs (Momswhosave.com) and they passed along the good news that Oprah and Payless Shoe Source were teaming up for a HEFTY coupon. I printed it so fast your head may have spun, I know mine did. It’s the kind where you get 50 percent off EVERYTHING you buy. Not one item, not buy one full price get one half off this was full-fledged, BREAKING NEWS I’M BROKE, certified GOOD news.
We just got back from Payless, and we were not alone. Thank you Oprah for giving ALL of us a break and Payless, I’ll never forget you giving us a break either. Good Coupons lead to Good Customers. (insert your best Terminator Voice here) Rest Assured Payless, I’LL BE BACK. And might I add, the girls at the New Market Square Payless store in Wichita, KS were absolutely AWESOME. As busy as they were they couldn’t have been nicer. When I said, I’m gonna go home and facebook and blog about it, they answered, “Please do. This is a great deal!!” Wish I had gotten their names, but Mr. Manager or Ms. Manager please let them know, they done GOOD.

Remember that great Sears coupon I told you about yesterday? I found it on one of my favorite blogs www.springsbargains.com. I printed those puppies off, ran to Sears and got to the cash register to hear, “We don’t take those anymore.”
I said, “AnyMORE or EVER?” No one seems to know but both Wichita Sears are NOT honoring the $10 off Junior Clothing coupons. So BOOOO Sears, actually it’s the second time I’ve fallen prey to Fake, or “Whatever These Crappy Coupons Are” on the internet. The other time was at TGIFriday’s where I was greeted by a sign that said internet coupons are not accepted here. (At least the ones I had gotten ahold of.) It makes me sad, not just for those of us looking like idiots, but also for those of us who try to spread the word around to make social media marketing WORKABLE. Frankly, a couple of these incidents and our credibility goes right down the crapper with the Crappy coupons. At least I have a way of letting you know when they don’t work, and I ran home fast to make sure you’d get this ASAP.
Someone suggested I follow a more local bargain blog, I do that too, so for now, I’ll just look like an idiot for you, then SCREAM, “RUN” whenever I find a crappy coupon ANYWHERE. This time I don’t mean RUN to Sears, I mean RUN away from the Sears Coupon, it’s a CRAPPER.

Not that TGIFriday’s did anything wrong, I’m blaming my own beginning signs of Ahlzheimer’s on the fact that I took my daughters out for dinner last night, and spent more money than I expected and much more than I should have. Yes, I have buyers regret, almost enough to risk bulimia and vomit up the evidence.
Thanks to my twitter friend @andreaanglin I was turned onto the new BYOB offer now running at TGIFridays via a few tweets…the BYOB, isn’t bring your own booze, it’s bring your own buddy. For each buddy you bring, you get Five bucks off any entree. So I figure I take my little buddies (the daughters) and we save 15 bucks. Except……being a natural blonde, it’s ME Plus a Buddy to get 5 bucks. So that’s only 10 bucks. DOH…. I felt stupid but I didn’t tell the waitress I was regretting every bite of my full sized and full priced salad. Even so, it might make a great stop for you and yours between now and August 31st….go to anitacochran.tv and I have a link to the coupon…. But my advice is take LOTS of buddies, you’ll feel like you’re getting a better deal, and maybe one of those buddies will pay for your full-priced salad, then it REALLY will BE a bargain. I’m Anita Cochran, with Breaking News Folks: I’m still Broke even though I’m trying really hard not to be.

Woooo HOOOOOOOO! I just saved 30 dollars plus some thanks to our friends at JCPenney. Remember the KUJO crazed dog who EATS fabric? Well new sheets have been on the must have list for a few days, and today was the day I headed out. LUCKY me.
My first stop, was the internet. I decided to check sheet prices before I got in the car, my thought was JCPenney is where I’ve always bought my favorite ones. (Must be soft the moment they are put on bed, and typically can only be white.) So I compared a few prices and noticed, yes, JC Count Your Pennies was having a CLOSEOUT sale. Off we went.
Not only did we find sheets for all three beds, a couple new pillows, (Tanza’s are flatter than flapjacks) we also spied three new styles of my favorite pants on SALE. Here’s the good part. When we went to check out, the clerk was explaining to the woman in front that on the back of the receipt was directions for a survey, fill it online and bring back the coupon for an additional 15 percent off your next purchase.
Heck yes, I put everything back, except Tanza’s new 10 dollar bra, and we ran home with that receipt and did a survey. Two hours later, that coupon I printed off after taking the survey saved me another 33 dollars. Money, I clearly was going to part with, but now I can part with it tomorrow. YIPPEEEE, Breaking News folks, I may be broke, but I’m Anita Cochran and and I’m learning to stretch those pennies into 33 dollars, this week at JCPENNEY.

I gotta admit, anything that says free, usually freaks me out. Until recently, free to me meant, it’s free until YOU ask for it, then you have to buy something, sell something, or turn your kids over to SRS. Well, since we’re pinching pennies, we’re taking folks up on their free offers, take for instance yesterday.
Long John Silver’s was giving away free Baja Fish Taco’s. Now fish and taco in the same sentence is sort of just not right unless you’re at the beach, but I decided, let’s see how awkward this will be to ask for free food! Yep, I pulled right in to my west side Long John. The sweet guy with the microphone didn’t even make me beg, he said, “How many Taco’s can I get you.” I said one because the girls were having none of this seafood thing, but when I got to the drive through and he saw us all, he went back and got two more. I think I love that guy.
As for the Baja Fish Taco, not bad. Not really a seafood lover, I love Long Johns during lent because the fish well, it really doesn’t taste like fish. I felt that way about the Fish Taco too, and I think it’s badly named, it is afterall wrapped in a soft tortilla. Maybe Long Johns’ didn’t think Baja Burrito sounded good, but I dig it. I may never order a Baja Fish Taco again, but Breaking News: Folks…since I’m broke and Long John’s is willing to feed me for free, they have a friend for life. I’m Anita Cochran, by the way I have a free coupon for a Roastburger at Arby’s, guess where we’re eating today!!
