I Am Old

It doesn’t happen all the time but about once a week now, I am regularly seeing my older self. Sometimes it’s an alarming realization that I haven’t had Botox in a year and the wrinkles have reappeared 10 fold. Other times it’s a glance in the mirror as I step out of the shower and see my mother looking back at me. Last week it was watching my Dad climb down from the combine with a gait much more like Grandpa’s than I wanted to acknowledge.

I don’t want it to sound like I am just trying to look 20 FOREVER or that I want my relatives to be ageless along with me, this runs deeper than that. This is about facing the fact that we all have expiration dates.

I remember telling someone back when I was a wise old teenager that I didn’t feel any older than when I was 12….. oddly enough inside my brain it’s not much different, but the mirror and my loved ones show otherwise.

So I will post this hideous picture that made me realize I may be too old to sport a pony tail. The moral of the story simply being, it helped me realize I am old….. and even though I like to post the pretty pix, these might be more useful to us all.
